The Prof Wole Soyinka Lecture is an annual series in recognition of the humanitarian works of Prof. Wole Soyinka (Nobel Laureate), one of the founders of National Association of Seadogs (NAS). Since its inception, lectures have been held in three continents around the world. The series provides a forum for intellects of like minds, to discuss prevailing socioeconomic issues within Nigeria and Africa in general.
This year’s lecture was particularly important following from Prof Wole Soyinka’s call for the “need to start thinking of a new generation of freedom/anti-corruption fighters”. Hence the theme of this lecture has been focused to reflect this line of action. We feel it is a cause that this lecture series can inspire. It is also a pertinent issue in the aftermath of the fuel subsidy revelations and the interest young Nigerians are showing towards the fight against corruption.
