Mar 21, 2008 | News

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) has offered to assist the Cross River State Police Command in fighting crime in the Obudu axis of the state because “Obudu as a border area is bound to witness high rate of crime.”

The Ikom/Ogoja/Obudu sub-zonal Coordinator of NAS Mr. Eddy Murphy made this known while donating bail bonds and telecommunications facilities to the Obudu Divisional Police Command in Obudu.

He explained that the bail bonds would help to facilitate the release of those who had been in detention without trial and the telecommunications lines 07086437383 and 08078276719 would assist the police as the numbers were to be distributed to the public for emergency calls in case of any act of criminality going on in any part of the area said one of the agenda of the association was on how to join hands with the Police to curb crime in Obudu.

Also speaking, the state president of NAS, Mr. Etido Umoren reiterated that the association will join hands with the force to fight crime in the state.

Umoren said for some years, NAS also known as Pyrates Confraternity has been trying to act as a watch dog to the society and “has been doing those things that could positively impact on the lives of the people.”

He noted the association has been running what he called community courses to alleviate the sufferings of the poor masses.

Receiving the donations, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Obudu local government area Mr. Orok Iban, a Superintendent of Police (SP) promised to utilize the items donated for the purpose for which they were made.

The DPO commended the association for the zeal and interest they have in the welfare of the people and advised them to always help the Police by giving useful information to the Police Department.
