Alake of Egbaland tasks Pyrates Confraternity on nation-building

Alake, the paramount ruler of Egbaland of Ogun State, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV has tasked the National Association of Seadogs, Pyrates Confraternity, NAS/PC on nation building.

Oba Gbadebo spoke when he received the leadership of NAS/PC led by the NAS Capoon, Mr Abiola Owoaje at his palace as part of activities lined up for its 48th National Koverge/ AGM this weekend at Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

While recalling the sterling qualities of members of the organisation, he noted that the best decision its leadership took was to pull out of the universities in 1984 to avoid being grouped with the mimics that sprang up then.

The revered monarch who pointed out the great contributions NAS/PC has made to the Nigeria project, expressed optimism that the organization’s abundant human resources will sustain the founding fathers’ vision to have a just and egalitarian society.

Oba Gbadebo expressed gratitude to the NAS/PC for deciding to hold its National Konverge in his Kingdom, stressing that the NAS medical mission slated for the centenary Hall would go a long way to help the people.

Owoaje in his remarks disclosed that he was in the palace to officially inform the monarch of the activities of the 48th National Konverge.

He stated that aside from the NAS Medical mission, the 26th edition of the Wole Soyinka Lecture Series will be held on Friday, August 2nd with former governor of Lagos State and former Minister for Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola speaking on the theme: The Baby of the Bathwater: Navigating the dark tunnels of systemic corruption to Nationhood.

According to him, other programmes include the Wole Soyinka Award for Youth Leadership and Innovation and a new stage play, ‘The Wheels of Justice written by Prof Wole Soyinka.
