Your Excellency,
THE POLITICAL KILLINGS AND ARMED THUGGERY MUST STOP!
It is with the deepest shock that Nigerians have once again woken up to the sad news of the callous murder of another illustrious son, Dr. Marshall Harry. This gruesome and senseless political murder has again sent shivers down the spine of Nigerians. It has made even clearer the potential for an impending sad chapter in our chequered national history, if these horrific acts are not immediately curtailed.
The government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under your leadership is fast losing any claim to the exercise of responsible authority over the security and protection of the Nigerian nation which you swore to uphold. There is absolutely nothing in your anticipated development of the country that can equate to the value of Nigerian lives.
Your distinguished Attorney General, the late Chief Bola Ige was murdered in cold blood while still in office and his killers have still not been brought to justice. Honorables Monday Ndor and Ogbonna Uche were recently killed by yet unidentified assailants. Other politicians have continued to lose their lives in a cold and senseless manner simply because their political views are different from those of their murderers. There have also been numerous unsuccessful attempts to snuff out the live of a few lucky politicians.
Your Excellency, you swore to uphold the law and protect lives and properties of Nigerians. The murder of Dr. Marshall Harry is one murder too many! Enough is enough!! You have absolute control of all the state security machinery and resources to ensure that the citizens and residents of Nigeria are relatively safe and secured. You have control of the Nigerian armed forces, the Nigerian police force, the state security service (SSS) and the state intelligence units. Why must the nation be so porously secured? The spate of wanton killings across the nation and the historically inconsequential outcome of the ensuing investigations at every level of government are only suggestive of a Federal Government not totally committed to protecting the lives and properties of its citizenry.
Worse still, the killings are systematically turning the country into a seemingly terrorist state – a worrisome situation with great potency to lead to undesirable consequences. To date, almost all the killings continue to remain in the system's endless investigative loop, only to fizzle out with time. Potential for continued and meaningful foreign and local investments is seriously jeopardized by the current state of insecurity in the nation.
It will be considered politically insane and dishonest if your government plays spectator while her innocent citizens are destroyed in the name of politics. It will equally be considered insane and dishonest if your government charged with the responsibility of protecting the lives of her people pays lip service to the current level of political killings and other serious economic and financial crimes being committed in the country.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! THE POLITICAL KILLINGS MUST BE STOPPED!!
Your Excellency, you must decide to effectively lead Nigeria or publicly take personal responsibility for the continued slaughtering of innocent Nigerians all over the country and the current unenviable state of the nation.
