New Horizons, the world's No.1 IT Training institution (IDC Report 2006, www.idc.com) has been acknowledged by corporate organisations in Nigeria for providing excellent training in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

New Horizons, a global company with head quarters in Anaheim California, was established in 1982 and has offices in over 60 countries of the world, the New Horizons Nigeria office came into inception in May 2005 with a clear focus of providing world class training in IT. It was named as the best IT Training institution in Nigeria for 2007 (ICT Africa Awards), it was also named as the two time winner (2006/2007) for the best IT Training institution in West Africa. (Direct Marketing Association of West Africa).

A statement by Tim Akano, the managing director of the company, said New Horizons has trained the staff of many organisations in Nigeria on ITIL namely: UAC, Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC), Tractor & Equipment, Diamond Bank, FCMB, First Inland Bank, UBA, Schlumberger, CELTEL etc and they all had a 100% pass rate in their exams. Participants who attended the training commended New Horizons on the quality of content used, the conducive learning environment, and the high quality of instructors who facilitated the training. They also attributed their excellent results at the ITIL exams on the training they received from New Horizons.

ITIL is a globally accepted best practice in service management, with large and small users in both public and private sectors. It gives a detailed description of a number of important IT practices, with comprehensive checklists, tasks, procedures and responsibilities which can be tailored to any IT organization. Where possible, these practices have been defined as processes covering the major activities of IT service organizations. Without ITIL, attempts at performance improvement and service aggregation are more likely to result in increased costs and a reduction in net service performance across the organization. ITIL provides the consistent information, repeatable processes and common understanding that assure management control of successful service delivery. These are essential prerequisites of any attempt at managed improvement in IT based service delivery.

ITIL is actively practiced in most countries around the world, in recent times; corporate organisations in Nigeria have started adopting the ITIL framework in providing excellent IT related services. For professional development, there is a formal, official ITIL qualification scheme offering individual certification at three levels: ITIL Foundation, ITIL Practitioner and ITIL Service Manager. New Horizons, an accredited training organisation on ITIL, provides training at these three levels, hence they are assisting organisations in becoming efficient, accountable, and reducing cost whilst increasing service provision in every area including IT.

It will be recalled that New Horizons partnered with Axios Systems-the UK-based leading international IT Service Management (ITSM) Software Company to introduce ASSYST Software into the Nigerian market. ASSYST is based on the ITIL framework and is needed in Nigeria today by small, medium and large scale enterprise in view of globalization and the need to build companies that can compete locally and globally using ITIL BEST PRACTICES models with regards to Change Management, Inventory Management, Incident Management, Help Desk, Incident Management, Problem Management, Configuration & Asset Management and Service Level Management. Organisations therefore, require a robust software like ASSYST to help implement the ITIL framework so as to provide improved quality services and ensure services are better directed to meet business, customer and user demands.

Furthermore, New Horizons provides training on EC-Council based courses on IT Security & E-Business such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI), and Customer Relationship Management etc. They also have a robust portfolio of more than 4,000 IT and business courses that meets the training needs of organisations in Nigeria.
