It has come to the attention of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SEADOGS a.k.a. PYRATES CONFRATERNITY (hereinafter called NAS) that certain mimic upstarts or pseudo groups in the Nigerian tertiary institutions and in some cases secondary institutions especially the Universities, Colleges of Technology, Colleges of Education etc have been parading themselves as members of NAS and initiating children and members of the public into their fold in the guise of initiating them into NAS.
These institutions, especially the University of Lagos, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State University, University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, LASPOTECH, Polytechnic Ibadan, University of Benin, Igbinedion University, Idahosa University, Covenant University, Babcock University, Abrose Alli University, Auchi Polytechnic, Delta State University, University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, University of Port Harcourt, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Enugu campuses, Enugu State University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Imo State University, University of Science and Technology, Owerri, Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Abia State University, University of Agriculture, Umuahia, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom Polytechnic, College of Maritime, Oron, University of Calabar, Calabar Polytechnic, Cross River State University of Technology, Federal College of Education, Obudu, University of Jos, University of Agriculture, Makurdi, American International University, Yola, Madonna University, Nigerian Defence Academy, University of Abuja, University of Ilorin, Ahmadu Bello University, University of Maiduguri, Bayero University, Uthman Dan Fodio University among others, should note, that we do not have members among its students’ population as we are definitely not operating in any educational institution in Nigeria and overseas.
We hereby state clearly to the public and all security organizations as we have done severally, that the NAS which was formed during the 1952/53 academic session at the University of Ibadan (then a college of the University of London) operated in Nigerian University Campuses from that time till 1984 when we voluntarily withdrew from the campuses and have not gone back since then. To be a member of NAS, the candidate must scale through a highly tasking Internet based examination that is conducted worldwide real time and prepared by some of the best professionals this country has produced; must possess an NYSC discharge Certificate or be exempted due to age consideration, with a certificate to prove same. Furthermore, each member is listed in our data base; is insured by NAS with one of the reputable insurance companies in Nigeria; and is in possession of a Biometric Identification Card that authenticates the identity of the holder as a member of NAS.
We call on members of the public to note that NAS is a duly registered organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja and is so registered in several countries around the globe including the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Japan, several states in the United States of America, Republic of Ireland, Canada and South Africa etc.
We hereby call on all security agencies in Nigeria including the Nigeria Police, the State Security Service, the Civil Defense Corps to arrest any group of person(s) either male or female found in any school in Nigeria parading themselves as members of the National Association of Seadogs aka Pyrates Confraternity and/or Seadogs, Pyrates, be it primary, secondary or tertiary; and after full investigation, to arraign them before a Court of Law of competent jurisdiction and be rest assured that we are ready to give evidence against such person(s).
We hereby give NOTICE that we shall not hesitate to take out a Writ against any person(s) who we find parading his/herself or themselves in any guise whatsoever or howsoever as members of or carry the name National Association of Seadogs aka Pyrates Confraternity.
